Tapping after I weighed myself

How I used tapping to help me after I stepped onto the scales.

I did a bad thing. I know better. I did it anyway.

I stepped onto the scale.

What followed was self-loathing, beating myself up and just feeling completely awful.

Logic and positive thinking didn’t help. I tried to tell myself the number on the scale didn’t matter.

I tried to remind myself that I am only 7 months post postpartum, I am breastfeeding and a little extra weight is normal but it didn’t help.

The negative self-talk was relentless.
You need to stop eating. You need to exercise more. My thighs are huge. You have been eating too many carbs. You eat to much bread.

After 24 hours of feeling miserable, I finally decided to tap. I started with the specific event of stepping on the scale yesterday morning.

As I vividly remembered, I scanned my body and found my first aspect. It was seeing the number on the scale. It brought on this awful heavy feeling in my heart. The intensity was a 9 out of 10.

So, I tapped. Setup statement “Even though I saw that number on the scale and I feel this heaviness in my heart, I deeply and completely accept myself anyway.

Reminder phrase “that number”

I started to feel better, the intensity was down to a 5 out of 10. I scanned my body again and could feel my thighs, they felt huge and I started to feel all this frustration.

Setup statement “Even though I feel this frustration, my thighs are huge, I deeply and completely accept myself anyway.”

Reminder phrase “my thighs are huge” “this frustration”

As I tapped through the tapping points, I could feel the frustration fading away and started to feel lighter. I went back to my initial event of stepping onto the scale yesterday morning.

I no longer felt triggered when I vividly remembered stepping on the scale.

I felt so much better. It was gone, I was back!

This is why I love tapping! What would have turned into a month of self-loathing, weight gain, restrictive diets and bingeing was completely gone. And it’s something I can do myself, I don’t have to rely on anyone else to ‘fix’ me.
